Melissa Green
Director

MFeatureMelissa joined NC State’s Center for Student Leadership, Ethics and Public Service staff as an Assistant Director in 2010, became Associate Director in 2012, and has served as Director since 2015. In her role, Melissa works closely with CSLEPS staff to support meaningful programs and initiatives; and to foster departmental and student success. She is responsible for developing and leading departmental assessment and research initiatives, and works with Stop Hunger Now to lead the national Clinton Hunger Leadership Award process. Melissa is a member of the NC State Feed the Pack Advisory Board and Advisor to the Feed the Pack Executive Director. She is a trained facilitator for the National Coalition Building Institute, an organization dedicated to the elimination of racism and other forms of oppression.  She also serves on several committees at the university, including the Division of Academic and Student Affairs Diversity Committee and the Strategic Planning Leadership team. She completed her undergraduate studies at Western Michigan University and earned a master’s degree in Counselor Education from The Ohio State University. Prior to joining the CSLEPS staff, Melissa worked at Western Michigan University as the Assistant Director for Leadership & Volunteer Services in the Student Activities & Leadership Program office, and in University Housing at the University of Illinois.

Brian Mathis
Associate Director

Brian joined the CSLEPS team in 2016, after earning a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from NC State and a master’s of College Student Personnel from Bowling Green State University. Prior to his role as Assistant Director of CSLEPS, he served as a Community Director for Georgetown University where he created the “Explore DC” living learning community (in partnership with federal agencies and community non-profits); and the Entrepreneurship living learning community with the McDonough School of Business at Georgetown.

He also served as the Assistant Director for Student Leadership at the University of California, Santa Barbara, before returning to NC State, where he worked within Student Involvement to provided support to the Union Activities Board and Student Government.

While at Bowling Green, Brian served as the Student Leadership Coordinator for Residence Life, designing and teaching leadership training and academic courses. He was also the Education Programs Coordinator for the Global Village living learning community in the College of Arts & Sciences.

Adam Culley
Assistant Director

Adam has been a part of the CSLEPS team since 2006 and is responsible for the Alternative Service Break program. With 22 program partnerships throughout the year, he is responsible for the selection of team leaders, training of advisors, and coordination of all travel logistics. Adam has developed and instructs a 3-credit course for team leaders to train and prepare them for all aspects of trip planning including budgeting, risk and safety, reflection, and critical thinking. He also works with the global community partners as well as campus partners to ensure that a high level of learning takes place in a safe environment.

Adam also provides team building and leadership training, including StrengthsQuest, to the campus community and beyond enjoying the development of leadership potential in others. Adam is also active on a number of committees on campus and supports the collaboration of all CSLEPS programming.

Adam is a native of Iowa, but is proud to call North Carolina his home.

Sarah Fayard
Assistant Director

Sarah was named Assistant Director in summer 2016, and comes to the Wolfpack from the University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee, where she served as the Associate Director of Community Engagement and Faculty Affairs and as an adjunct faculty member for Leadership Studies.  She brings an extensive background in student leadership development, student success, curriculum development, and student activities to the CSLEPS team.  She completed her bachelor’s degree in Marketing at University of Florida and earned a Masters of Education in Curriculum and Instruction with a concentration in College Student Affairs from the University of South Florida.

In her role, Sarah focuses primarily on student leadership development, leadership education, and office marketing. She provides leadership for the following programs: Leadership Development Program & Certificate, Leaders for Change, LeaderShape Institute, and ACC Leadership Symposium.  She is a certified coach for Emotional Intelligence Assessments EQ-i 2.0 & EQ 360 and an Echoing Green Certified Work on Purpose Facilitator.

Leslie Beddingfield
Administrative Support Specialist

Leslie has been a member of the CSLEPS team since 1993. Leslie was a part of CSLEPS’ transition from the previous Student Leadership Center to the current Center for Student Leadership, Ethics & Public Service. As the Admin and Office Manager, she oversees the day to day function of the office.  She has played a vital role in the expansion of the Alternative Service Break program from 1 trip to 24 experiences currently offered by CSLEPS. Leslie supports four full-time staff and numerous student staff, and also helps to coordinates the logistics of the Leadership Development Program workshops, from reservations to confirming presenters. She is also a trained Strengths Quest Facilitator.
