The focus of this trip is for students who have an interest in the healthcare field. This trip will focus on exploring the Guatemalan healthcare system and to work on various service projects at some of the clinics in the area.
Guatemala is still recovering from a thirty-six year civil war that ended in 1996. The ethnic cleansing associated with this war, along with the continued corruption that still exists in its society, has let this country in an economic depression and with many people not able to access basic healthcare.
