This trip explores eastern North Carolina as you’ve never seen it before: through the lens of sustainability, justice, service and action. On this week-long journey through the Cape Fear River Basin, students will learn about some of the most challenging environmental issues impacting the state of North Carolina and its residents. From downstream water quality and hazardous waste contamination to the impacts of eastern North Carolina’s concentrated animal feeding operations, trip participants will explore complex sustainability challenges and meet everyday people fighting for environmental justice in their communities. This trip is about listening to stories, seeing impacts firsthand and reflecting on how you can champion causes important to you.
